Solid wood blocking for hardware is embedded in our panels
This allows you to install hardware for doors at specified locations as you would with any other wood material. Blocking is installed during our manufacturing process.
Custom wood blocking will be embedded inside your Sing Panel at specific locations to facilitate your required hardware installation. We can provide blocking so you can install lock blocks, hinges, pivot sets, and any other hardware with ease.
Standard blocking materials are Douglas Fir or soft wood, and poplar.
Blocking Guidelines:
- Blocking must be sized so that after all hardware prep, trimming, cutting, or machining is complete, at least 1.25″ of solid wood remains between the SingCore core and any hardware, cutout, panel edge, or exposed/machined area.
- The SingCore core must not be exposed.
- Blocking should be based only on the required hardware, cutout, fastening, or machining and should not be larger than necessary.
- Oversized or unnecessary blocking can reduce panel stability and may affect warranty eligibility.
- Include blocking for door sweeps and floor guides.
Blocking Examples
Example:
- If a door hinge is 3″ wide x 5″ tall, the blocking must be sized so the core is not exposed and the required 1.25″ solid wood protection remains.
- In this example, the blocking would be 4.25″ wide x 7.5″ tall.
