Garage Doors

Peter was inspired recently to find yet another use for Sing Honeycomb Panels. We’re launching a line of insulated panels for overhead garage doors. He noticed that too many nice homes have dinged up garage doors. It’s because garage doors are expensive to repair. You don’t want to replace a panel for a golf ball dent, so you let it go until the damage is beyond cosmetic. Soon, you’ve run into the garage door with your car or time has made the edges drafty, so you shell out a fortune to have it repaired in a hurry. If your door had been more sturdy from the start, you’d be on a mini vacation.

This also raised the question, why so many dented doors? They’re mostly made of steel, which is strong, right? Well, I was wrong about that too. The steel used in garage doors is extremely thin, so it doesn’t get the strength we expect of steel. What can we do? We need durable doors. They’re the first defense for our home. How many times have you heard of a break-in through the garage?

Sing Honeycomb to the rescue! Our insulated panels are going to revolutionize the garage door industry. Lowe’s carries DIY insulation kits, but that won’t repair the dents and air gaps. When it’s finally time to replace the garage door, Sing will be there. We use insulation foam to support our cores. We use a veneer torsion box grid embedded in the foam sandwich core to make our panels strong and unchanging. I’ve hit them with 30lb kettle bells with not even a mark. We’re looking into the most common measurements for garage doors, and we’ll test the water this summer during remodel season. This can be huge. The garage no longer needs to be drafty and dented.

We’ll also need customers to share their photos and successes with us, so be one of the first owners of a new Sing Garage Door, and possibly earn a marketing discount.
