7 Years Later, Sing Core’s AIA Donation

Seattle’s Center for Architecture and Design had their grand opening 7 years ago in March, 2016, and they have stood as a pillar for the architecture and design industry ever since. We are honored to have worked with the AIA to construct this beautiful place. Their confidence in us and our product was felt, as this was a major project that had a lot of work put in from start to finish. It all started with an amazing design plan and incredible vision for the limited space they had available, and together with the great teams working on this project we were able to build the wonderful gallery that can be seen today.

Seattle Center for Architecture and Design


As a chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Seattle Center for Architecture and Design welcomes and promotes many different styles and techniques of architecture, hosting valuable presentations and events in their welcoming gallery. On display they have many different subjects of the architecture and design industries, and many people visit the center from open until close to see these marvelous features and discuss these themes.

During their grand opening, the Center for Architecture and Design was in need of some large, adjustable walls and doors to manipulate the gallery as needed. Their vision was to have walls that could be adjusted to create a beautiful, open space for guests, but could also be turned as to create a closed area to hold meetings and conferences. Sing Core donated the wall panels needed for this grand project, as well as customized them with additions such as a man door, allowing an easy entrance and exit even when the room had been closed off. The donated panels were actually so large that the front windows had to be temporarily removed, as the product would not fit through the door!

In addition to the adjustable walls and doors Sing Core donated, we also provided furniture for the office in the form of high end desks, shelving, partition walls, and more, all using our patented and patent-pending Sing Core products.

These grand adjustable walls are still in place today, and can be seen as a main piece of the Center’s gallery. They were created and still function to serve one main purpose: to maximize space in an innovative way. And while Sing Core is proud of our donation, we also owe a significant compliment to the incredible teams that designed the floor plan and installed the doors and walls, as their excellent skills and labor were just as essential in creating this space.

Texas Society of Architects

Sing Core also provided our panels at a discount to the Texas Society of Architects by AIA for use in their offices and building space. The location had a significant noise problem with their high, industrial style ceiling, and they needed high end panels to cut down on the echoes and residual sound. By installing Sing Core panels in strategic places, they were able to significantly cut down on the noise and establish a far more relaxed and focused work environment. Once again, this could not have been done without the incredible design and installation teams who perfectly utilized the Sing Core panels..

Q: Are Sing moveable walls nailable?

A: All standard Sing wall panels are nailable, as our standard surface material is plywood. It may be important, if you are specifying a special exterior skin or other specifications, to note in advance to the manufacture of your panels that you intend to nail, as that may require additional material to accommodate nailing.

Q: Can the appearance of your temporary walls be changed on-site?

A: All standard Sing wall panels are compatible with vinyl covering materials that are widely available in almost any color, design and may be custom printed. These self-adhesive vinyl sheets (also available in rolls) can be applied and changed at any time within minutes.

Q: Do your wall systems require complicated, patented hardware that costs extra?

A: Our standard wall panels have built-in solid wood edging and wood panel facings that can easily be assembled with basic woodworking skills and tools. We do have connection systems available for our clients, if requested, also we can retrofit our Sing panels to fit any existing hardware that you may be currently using.

Q: Do your temporary wall panels have electrical channels built-in?

A: Our standard panels do not come with interior electrical channels, we do provide then either vertically or horizontally to your specifications at an additional charge. Many millworks router-out their own channels for wire management from the basic Sing panel’s solid wood edging.

Q: Do your modular walls have headers to support lighting attachments?

A: Standard Sing wall panels are strong enough to support lighting, shelving and accessory attachments without adding any additional support. Simply attach your gear just like you would any standard framed wall. (No expensive proprietary hardware attachments necessary.)

Q: What if we need to reconfigure your decorative wall panels? Will we have to buy special hardware or seek out a metal shop?

A: Standard Sing wall panels are wood, unless your specifications require other materials to be used, so any panels can be easily redesigned reconfigured with basic carpentry skills and standard woodworking tools.

Q: What finished do you have available for your room dividers?

A: All Sing Wall panels are available in virtually any surface material that you desire. Standard paint grade panels can be painted and finished, or re-painted and re-finished just like any other wood-based wall. Otherwise, peel and stick vinyl coverings are available in nearly any color imaginable and easy to cover to accommodate any desired appearance on-the-fly.

Q: Where can we get parts and accessories for your movable wall panels?

A: Since our basic Sing wall panels are wood-base, unlike other expensive patented import wall systems, no special hardware is necessary. Anything you need is easily attainable from your local hardware store, or available through online retailers like eBay or Amazon.

Quick Easy Sound Proof Rooms Set Up Tear Down

Sing Core is in the business of helping solve the challenges that face a variety of situations across many industries. Due to the innate sound-deadening qualities of patented Sing Core, there is increasing number of inquiries and applications of interest to designers, architects, high-end audiophiles and homeowners.

Among the various business segments we (Sing Panels) are often invited to join our business clients as they fabricate their own trade show booths on-the-fly. Rather than relying on us (or third-party designers) they simply obtain Sing Panels as their raw materials, then build and decorate to their heart’s content.

At a trade show you want to look your best and sometimes it is important to have a professionally isolated area where you can interact with your clients without the distraction of the ongoing tradeshow noise and distractions.

You could spend top-dollar for your Sing Trade Show Booth, or simply do it yourself. All you need to do is to order the number of Sing Panels that you need to create your booth, i.e., a 12 x 8 trade show booth can be easily constructed our of seven Sing Panels (three for the back and two for each side). Your trade show booth can be assembled quickly, easily and quietly with an electric screwdriver, and can be assembled in minutes singlehandedly.

Occasionally, at an increasing rate of late, our tradeshow people have been using Sing Panels as their structure material for building on site sound proof rooms that are built rapidly at low cost.

Here are the DIY methods that we’ve seen used by some of our clients build the sound proof disposable conference rooms, or presentation theaters:

Quickly assemble a number of 4 ft. x 8 ft. x 2 in. (with ¼ in. luan facing) Sing Panels into the desired room configuration.

You will need a door for access. There are 3 ways to do this:

  1. Order 1 Sing Panels with a door (could be a Sing Sound Proof Door) built-in
  2. Cut a Sing Panel and insert your own door on site
  3. Hinge an entire Sing Panel as an access point

Using this method you will be able to assemble your private area within minutes.

To increase sound crossover and privacy, add panels as floor and ceiling then consider how to sound proof a room:

The Inexpensive, Quick and Easy Way to Sound Proof Your Area

To sound proof your area, you could get Sing Sound Panels which are normally more expensive and used in permanent installations, or you could use the methods used by many of our tradeshow attendees and save thousands and thousands of dollars:

Once you have your basic Sing Panel structure assembled (including floor and ceiling) add as many layers of sheetrock to the exterior (and interior, if desired) as needed to obtain the level of sound-proofing desired.

Just have a local lumberyard deliver the sheetrock that you need, affixing them to your existing Sing Core structure.

“How many layers of sheetrock can the Sing Panels hold?”

Remember, Sing Panels are not only lightweight and sound-dampening but they are also strong. Even without a frame (you don’t really need one because of the built-in torsion box frame) Sing Panels are many times stronger than a rinky-dink 2×4 frame and in fact are stronger than steel (see comparison). So, if you wanted to add a layer of lead for increased sound deadening, your Sing Panel frame can easily handle the extra weight.

An impressive way to increase the sound-deadening qualities of your structure is to alternate layers of sheetrock with sing panels. For example, the basic structure might be your Sing Panel core with sheet rock on both the inside and outside. On the outside and another later of Sing Panel add another layer of sheetrock to achieve the desired result.

You can also add polystyrene, dynamat. polyurethane foam, acoustic textile, perforated acoustical soundboard or sound proof foam material to either the exterior or interior of your structure, or both.

Disposable Theater and/or Conference Room

Disassembly of your Sing Core theater or conference room is as easy as reversing the direction on your screwdriver.

Many of our economy sound-proof trade show people simply disassemble their areas, leaving the sheetrock behind for the convention center to dispose of (sometimes they even leave the Sing Panels behind, too, but most of them take the panels with them, if they can).
