Cam Lock Panels with Cam Locks by Norse

Sing Core is proud to partner with Norse to provide rapid Sing Panel connection methods that are quick and easy to assemble and disassemble for fast set up and tear down. Easier than turning a screw.

sing-core-panel-cam-locks-3sing-core-panel-cam-locks-2In many cases, for instance, standard 4×8 panels can be nailed, glued or channel-joined quickly and easily with satisfactory results.

Other options for fastening panels may include cam locks (see examples left and right) that can be pre-installed, making assembly and joining easy and more secure.

The Sing cam-lock panel solution is a high-demand solution for panels that are routinely assembled and disassembled, especially in moveable walls, trade show booths, and various wall cladding applications.

Why Sing Panels and Norse Latches?

Sing Panels weigh a fraction of the weight of stick frame walls, plus they will stand straight and remain true flat along the entire projects. If you torque a cam locked series of wall panels made any other way, you could break the cam locks with heavy panels compromising the entire structure.

High Precision

With the extremely high precision of patented Sing Core (within .006 inch) you can build the most high precision wall system and connect them securely with Norse Latches.

TDS108-1

Stronger than Steel

Due to the patented insulated torsion box composite core, Sing panels have a compression strength of 660 PSI; that’s stronger than steel pound for pound.

This results in the perfect union, Sing Core and Norse Latches, to build the most effective high-precision, lightweight, high strength panel wall system.

Watch the assembly of this 70 ft. trade show display including two offices in less than an hour with the flick of a wrist.

No Special Tools for Assembly

We and our clients who use the Norse cam lock devices are so excited about being able to assemble incredibly large trade show displays in very little time without requiring skilled labor or special tools.

In fact, the only tool necessary to assemble our modular trade show display components is an Allen wrench.

All of this is possible thanks to the cam lock technology by our friends at Norse, Inc.

What is a Cam Lock?

cam lock for cam lock panel insulated connectorsA cam lock is a device that is embedded at precise locations alongside the edges of our patented reinforced structural insulated panel. The cam lock fasteners come in pairs; a male cam lock latch and a female cam lock receptacle.

Two panels can be placed side by side and with a simple turn of a cam lock key or Allen wrench, the cam lock latch grasps the opposing cam lock pin and pulls the panel in tight for secure cam lock coupling. See: Cam Lock Panels with Cam Locks by Norse.

How to Install a Cam Lock

Most of the high end millworks that we supply our reinforced structural insulated panels to (see clients list) install the each camlock in their woodworking shop.

Sing Core offers pre-installation of cam locks to our clients’ specifications. Standard sized cam lock panels have two cam locks installed; one at the top and one at the bottom of the panel. The two cam lock design is most common for trade show panels.

Museums, on the other hand, may use much larger panels with either three cam locks installed; top and bottom with another cam lock installed in the middle, while others specify that the center cam lock be replaced with a small biscuit-style joint.

Though we do not design cam lock panels, we do build them to your specifications.

Trade Show Cam Lock Panels

800 Square Foot Buildings No Permit Required

No building permit required for 800 square foot tiny house buildingWe are so excited to see municipalities and counties all over the nation are beginning to loosen the grip on residents who desire to build their own projects on their own properties.

Sing Core’s national headquarters is located in McCleary, Washington and we’re proud to live in Grays Harbor County that has recently embraced lightening the restrictions on property owners to build their own 800 sq. ft. structures without a permit. Many areas are joining the revolution to allow residents to build structures independently.

An 800 square foot structure is a reasonably-sized structure that could offer a comfortable living environment, like a tiny house.

Let your local government know about the trend of NO building permit required for 800 sq ft building.

Change your county building code if this is not available for you.

For instance your 800 square foot structure could have a 20 ft x 40 ft footprint, like this one:

20x40 800 sq ft house plan

5x20 ft Galvanized Steel Magnetic Sign Display Panels Lightweight High Strength Guaranteed true flatThis 10 foot tall walled structure could be built using 5 ft x 20 ft galvanized steel panels with door and window cutouts in less than an hour by a few people (using a rapid assembly method). Seem like too little time? Okay, add a second story in another hour, even a third story.

Building a two-story house in two hours using two people could only be possible using patented Sing Core technology.

Check local building codes in your area. Most counties or municipalities allow the do-it-yourself builder to construct a structure of a minimal size without a building permit. Other options (as recognized by many tiny house enthusiasts) include building your structure on a trailer; as mobile structures – like a tiny house on wheels – are exempt from building codes.

Don’t Be Framed

Building structures with Sing Panels does not require traditional framing because the structure is built into the wall. You can build a solid structure with 1 inch thick wall panels without any structure framing due to Sing Core’s:

Patented Sing Core provides a natural vertical wood grain torsion box/foam composite that is so strong that it is recognized by high-tech industries as the strongest affordable lightweight building material that is stronger than steel pound for pound and able to reach long spans without heavy substructures.

Building with this patented technology is advantageous for so many reasons, like:

easy to handle lightweight high strength metal honeycomb panelsLightweight

Sing Panels are easy to handle because they weigh so much less than other building materials. One person can easily handle a standard 4×8, and two can easily maneuver a 5×20 – not because of the weight – due to the awkward size.

Assembly of storage unit in trade show display lightweight high strengthRapid Assembly

There are so many options in methods of assembling your Sing Panels in your building project, but there are extremely fast options. For instance, you could have your Sing Panels pre-cut for all window and door openings and have quick connecting cam-locks installed for quick and solid assembly. See Video of a 70 ft trade show display erected single handedly in less than 1 hour.

Insulation

Every Sing Panel is packed wall-to-wall with insulation and can achieve R-values of 6.5 per sq. inch. There’s no need to insulate your pre-insulated wall panels; plus you get the added benefit of extra privacy and protection from the environment due to inherit sound-deadening qualities.

Save on Construction Costs

Save up to $5000 – or more – just on construction costs due to being lightweight, easy to assemble and not having to require time-consuming 2×4 framing. Your contractor can save both time and money. No need to frame, plus you can have all door and window openings pre-cut and ready to build.

weatherproof exterior metal equipment enclosure made of metal honeycomb panelsWeather Resistance

Your reinforced structured insulated panels can be pre-fabricated using any extreme-weather resistant exterior material you desire. Most popular for rapid pre-fabricated structure building includes fiberglass, marine-grade ply and galvanized steel, which offer weather resistance without applying additional siding.

High Performance

Long recognized for inventing the only high-precision true flat building material that stays flat, your Sing structure will remains straight and true, not like wood framing and other materials. Only sing Panels can affordably achieve these high marks.

Versatility

Sing Panels are available in nearly any flat exterior building material including, but not limited to, any wood species, aluminum, concrete, FRP, HPL, Kevlar, metal, plastic, stainless steel, etc… Just about anything you could desire. Plus, you could have one material on the inside facing, and another on the outside. Example, galvanized steel on outside and plywood on the inside.

Customize

We’re all about helping to make your design dreams come true. We can modify Sing components to your specifications and meet the structural durability requirements of your project. As we are well-known world-wide for building large oversize doors that can be guaranteed for 50 years and will not warp, bend, twist or rot using this technology; this is our specialty.

DIY / Do It Yourself

Though we only work with high-end architects, engineers, contractors and designers, we fully support the tiny house movement and offer materials to individuals who have the knowledge equivalent to a contractor for DIY structures.

Joining Sing Panels

There are many ways to join Sing Panels

Simple Joining

The simplest and least expensive way to join sing panels is to join in any way according to your budget and/or expertise.

Due to Sing Panels being so straight and true it is easier to join panels together because they line up perfectly unlike other building materials.

sing-core-panel-cam-locks-3sing-core-panel-cam-locks-2In many cases, for instance, standard 4×8 panels can be nailed, glued or channel-joined quickly and easily with satisfactory results.

Thru-bolt Joining

One of the most inexpensive and secure ways to join sing panels is by utilizing a simple nut and bolt connection method, especially, if the panels will be routinely or repeatedly assembled and disassembled.

Stainless steel nuts and bolts offer the safety and security when joining sing panels.

Biscuit Joining

In many cases, Sing Panels can be pre-configured for biscuit joining at your site of factory.

Especially for large projects, this enables Sing Core panels to be sent individually, reducing shipping and handling costs, for assembly at your facility or job site.

Edge Banding

Unless specified Sing Panels do not ship edge-banded as 93% of our wholesale customers do their own edge-banding when finishing their Sing Panel.

Edge banding can take many forms from vinyl and plastic to wood and steel. Sing Panels are not intended for use as an un-banded product and may not qualify for our 50 year warranty if un-banded.

If your intention is to get the best, most long-lasting performance from your Sing Panels, feel free to take advantage of our free consultation to be guaranteed to achieve the results that you desire.

Advanced Large Panels

Sing Core specializes in extremely large panels (up to 50 feet) that are extremely true flat and use our nearly seamless assembly process.

This is the most high-end and expensive process where we perform the highly specialized meticulous work in our factory yielding the high level of perfection that many of our most discerning clients require. See: our clients.

These must be manufactured in our plant to ensure accuracy with tolerances within thousandths of an inch and are more costly to ship due to the nature of their being larger than multiple panels that can be assembled on-site.

Connectors for Connecting

Cam-Locks

One of our many features is the ability to add fasteners/locks to our panels…one example of this is the “S-Hook Lock” with a turn of the hex wrench you can fasten or unfasten your panels quickly.

The “S-Hook” fastening lock that is attached to the side of these panels to allow for easy assembly of the wall system.

With a quick turn of your wrist on the hex key your panels will be attached to each other.

Barn Door Assembly or ‘H’ Channel

If you are planning to keep your panels as a permanent structure you may choose the H-Channel attachment feature. Apply your adhesive the slide panel into the channel on each side then either veneer over the panel and channel or you may choose to putty, sand and paint your panels to cover over the H-channel.

Tongue and Groove

Tongue and groove is another fastening choice especially if you using our panels for flooring or ceiling. Make a nice almost seamless connection but give wood veneer a hardwood flooring appearance.

Biscuit Joint

This is a modified biscuit joint attachment. Similar to the H-joint the you are using a single long “beam” as the connector and gluing them together. Best use is for oversize tables (such as vacuum tables) and oversize doors as well. Because our panels are made of honeycomb rather than solid wood, they will not warp. Our honeycomb is light and strong.

Ship Lap

The ever popular ship lap as a connector alternative.
