What Are Sing Honeycomb Panels?

Sing Honeycomb is a sandwich panel composite material with built in structural grids. Our grids are made of vertical grain renewable veneer wood fiber, and foam. We construct our Singcore in a fashion similar to torsion box technology most commonly found in the airplane industry. This technology is what allows our panels remain strong, lightweight, and flat without denting, cracking, and warping. See a comparison here. Inventor Peter Sing uses this torsion box technology, along with wood fiber and foam to create patented Sing Honeycomb: the incredibly strong, true flat, lightweight, renewable composite material of the future. Check out our products section to see a few different applications.

Even without coating, Sing Honeycomb sandwich panels outlast plywood, solid wood, MDF, and particle board. Plywood and engineered wood rot crack because of the weak glue layers. Sing Honeycomb panels last because underneath the skins lie Singcore, which keeps the panels flat through torsion box technology, and therefore doesn’t allow the panel to crack.

Sing Sandwich Panel

Sandwich Panel

torsion box, sandwich panel, honeycomb panel, lightweight panel

Standard sandwich panels utilize an insulating foam core sandwiched in between two thin sheets of hard material.  However, this design offers very little strength and durability. Sandwich panels made by Sing Core are stronger, lighter, and more eco-friendly than these conventional panels because we replace the standard foam core with our patented vertical grain, natural veneer torsion box grid also known as the Sing Core.  For the consumer, this translates into a higher quality product at a fraction of the cost.

Insulated doors made with traditional sandwich panels are highly susceptible to dents and structural damage because of their weak foam core.  Doors made with our Sing Core sandwich panel technology can withstand much higher impacts resulting in little or no damage due to our unique core properties.  The University of Washington has confirmed that our doors can withstand pressure of up to 660 psi, as compared to the average sandwich panel which can only withstand 60-100 psi.

How can Sing Core sandwich panels be used? Doors, shelving, table-tops, flooring, bookcases, furniture, outdoor decking material, truck/trailer beds even water tanks, to name a few. The possibilities are endless.

If you desire products that are lightweight, strong, durable, dimensionally stable, and eco-friendly, then you must try our Sing Core Sandwich Panels.  We like to demonstrate our confidence in the integrity of our products by offering our customers a 10 year structural guarantee.

Custom Door Skin Options

Below are the most popular Custom Door Skins. Every option works with Sing Core panels. And every panel can be made in almost any size.

1. Paint Grade Door Skins

Paint Grade skins are the most affordable. They are simple. But they are strong. And they are light. Because of this, they are perfect for builders who want a clean, smooth look. You can prime and paint them in any color.

2. Wood Veneer Door Skins

Wood Veneer skins create a rich, natural look. They are ideal for staining. And they offer a high-end finish. Even better, they stay flat because Sing Core supports them from within. Choose from many veneer species.

3. Solid Wood Plank Door Skins

Solid Wood Plank skins give a warm, real-wood feel. Yet they cost far less than thick solid-wood doors. These planks create a premium appearance while staying light. And therefore, they are great for extra-wide or tall doors.

4. Metal Door Skins (Steel or Aluminum)

Metal skins make ultra-strong doors. They are available in many thicknesses. And they can meet high fire ratings. You can even design bullet-resistant doors. Because Sing Core reduces weight, these metal panels stay easy to handle.

5. Fiberglass Door Skins (FRP)

Fiberglass skins are very durable. They resist weather. They resist dents. And they work indoors or outdoors. They are also low-maintenance, which makes them ideal for high-traffic areas.

6. Ceramic Door Skins

Ceramic skins are perfect for fire-rated and high-heat doors. And, thanks to the impact-absorbing Sing Core, they resist cracking better than standard ceramic panels. These skins offer both protection and style.

Why Custom Door Skins Work So Well with Sing Core

Every Custom Door Skin performs better with the Sing Core structure. The core is light. It is strong. It is stable. And as a result, your door stays straight for decades.

If the outer skin is ever damaged, you can repair it easily. The structure supports patching without sagging or distortion.

Door thickness ranges from 3/4 inch to no maximum thickness. Door sizes range from tiny cabinet doors to doors over 16 ft tall and 24 ft wide.

Door Types We Build

We use Custom Door Skins on four main structures:

  1. Solid Doors
Best for doors up to 4 ft by 8 ft. Very strong.

  2. Barn-Style Multi-Panel Doors
