General Specifications

Standard insulated flush door pre hung door marine grade plywood fiberglass aluminumStandard Sing Core doors are manufactured with patented Sing Core material as the base interior substrate of the door. The Sing Core substrate material is created using a vertical grain natural wood torsion box design while the traditionally empty voids are filled wall to wall with recycled foam. The foam material is available in various forms depending on your specification. The default is recycled EPS foam. Natural wood lock blocks are positioned at locations as necessary for locking mechanism placement or as anchor points. The core material is wood framed by 1 ¾ “ natural wood for finishing strength and attaching hardware. The torsion box is completed by adhering an exterior material (skin) according to your specifications. The default is a wood-grain (Luan) material. Bonding agent used in adhesion of the entire composite material is formaldehyde-free.

Scope: Subject to local building codes, the standard Sing Core door is intended for use in:

Door Panel Materials: Sing Core doors are manufactured using Eco-friendly cold-press process. Composite materials include:

  • 5x10-lockblock-2-sideSing Core vertical wood-grain torsion substrate filled with recycled EPS foam
  • Core material is framed with wood stiles and rails
  • Facings are wood veneer (Luan)
  • Formaldehyde-free bonding agent is used for adhesion of all components

Interior Blocking: Solid wood implants are inserted as lock blocks or anchor points. Also additional stiles (vertical wood implants) or rails (horizontal wood implants) can be positioned at any desired location inside the door. (Note: Depending on your expectations, solid wood implants should be supported by at least 12 inches of Sing Core material to maintain true flatness.)

Delivery: Reasonable care is taken to ensure safe transportation of your Sing Core door from factory to your location including proper crating to protect the natural beauty of your door during transport.

Storage and Protection: Store your Sing Core door in an upright position and allow to acclimate to room temperature following shipment receipt or prior to finishing or installation.

Preparation: Per manufacturer’s specifications, ensure that door frame openings are constructed plumb, true and level prior to installation. Select fasteners of adequate type, number and quality to assure proper function.

Installation: Installer shall be specialized in the installation of the type of work that is associated with the project and will comply with manufacturer’s installation policies and procedures to ensure proper end use.

Add-stiles-and-rails-to-your-sing-door-as-anchor-points-drawingFinishing: The finishing of the Sing Core standard door is the responsibility of the client due to the product being delivered in paint-grade quality unless specified otherwise in writing. Any sealing must be in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications to protect against a variety of environmental conditions as necessary.

  • Edge-band edges to encapsulate Sing Core (see T-molding)
  • Seal all 6 surfaces with two coat minimum on operable panel(s)
  • Finishing or re-finishing must be completed following acclimatization and installed within 7 days
  • Avoid finishing after rain (or damp) or during periods of higher than average humidity
  • At least once a year, conduct periodic inspections of coating to ensure no door components are exposed
  • Reseal the surface as necessary

Machining: Sing Core doors are easy to work with in the millwork shop for CNC machining or on-site for finishing, sawing, sanding, cutting and fastening. No specialized skills or equipment is necessary, other than standard woodworking tools. Treat Sing Core doors just like you would any other standard door blank.

Strength Performance: Patented Sing Core has an unsurpassed strength as compared to other lightweight substrate materials tested at 660 PSI (based on 2″ x 2″ grids and 3/4″ thick) for superior structural integrity and is resistant to warp, twist and crack when compared to other materials.

Light Weight Performance: Sing Core weighs much less than other traditional building materials, as much as 50% less; or more, as little as 4 lbs. per sq. ft. yet sustainable and true green technology.

Insulation Performance: Standard Sing Core doors feature built-in insulation value with an R3 (can be upgraded to to R6.5 or more) rating per inch, depending on architect’s specifications.

Acoustical Performance: Sing Core standard doors have a natural sound-deadening quality for noise control. Standard sound transmission class (STC) is 30*. Additional noise control specifications can be met at the behest of the customer or designer and must be noted in advance.

Eco-friendly: Sing Core is manufactured using natural wood fibers, no formaldehyde, or toxic chemicals, is created using less energy than any other core material with little or no waste. The structure of Sing Core is 100% renewable (nature-grown) clean fiber and/or recycled material.

Warranty: Sing Core professional manufactured doors can be structurally guaranteed and warp-free for 50 years under normal conditions.

How Do We Do It?

First of all, if the pivot door were solid oak, it would fail the standards test due to the raw material. Natural wood will warp, twist and crack if left to itself. Not to mention being heavy in weight. The excessive weight is an added strain on the integrity of the structure and hardware, increasing maintenance costs over time.

Adding oak wood staves is where the problem comes in; because natural wood is unstable and will compromise the overall structure. Torsion Box

This is a labor-intensive process for craftsmen, but does produce a lighter-than-solid-wood product that has increased strength due to the torsion box interior.

Craftsmen have been using torsion box for centuries, but it takes a skilled craftsman hours if not days to create a table… Sing Core provides craftsmen with the torsion box structure pre-built. Sing-Core-Block-147Here is an example of how to build a 2 foot by 4 foot panel using our Sing Core Block. First you lay your bottom skin face-down on your surface. Then you cover with a layer of urethane glue. Put your exterior wood staves (edges) into place, as shown in the photo to the right.

Sing-Core-Block-Drop-In-2Sing Core Block is utilizes our, “drop-in,” system. Basically, all you need is to slice the Sing core lock your desired thickness as determined by your specifications. Install your sliced Sing Core Block by placing it inside your wood perimeter to fill the vacant space with Sing Core Block material.

Continue to fill the empty space with additional sections of Sing Core Block material until the space is nearly filled.

Sing-Core-Block-152Next apply a layer of urethane glue to the top of all the surface material(s) including the exposed Sing Core Block and the top-side of the wood staves as shown in the photo to the right.

Sing-Core-Block-153The honeycomb torsion box provides the strength, while the urethane glue adds to the structural integrity of the end product, keeping it from delaminating under extreme conditions or over long periods of time.

Once you have a nice coat of urethane glue on the entire top surface, you are now ready to apply the top skin.

Sing Press – No Equipment Necessary

Once you have all your glue and components into place, the panel(s) need to be cold-pressed for proper adhesion and dry-time. Dry times vary according to the type of glue that you use. We suggest using a slow-drying glue for a higher quality end-product.

Hydraulic Press

If your facility already has a commercial hydraulic press, then by all means use that. Many of our craftsmen who are Sing Hardwood manufacturers avoid any equipment cost by utilizing the Sing Press model, that is constructed out of perfectly straight Sing Panels on the top and bottom and a few clamps. There is no structural advantage of using a commercial press, as the results are the same.

 

You can see that very little energy is expended in the manufacturing of your Sing Hardwood, and there is little or no waste.

On-Hand = On-Demand

In the demonstrations (above) it is easy to imagine that you as the craftsman have complete control of the creation process. You can make your own Sing Hardwood on-demand at your location, avoiding any shipping expense or time… and if you need a piece of material that you suddenly find yourself out-of-stock… In an emergency, you could make your own (insert any hardwood or lumber product you want) if you have some Sing Core Block on-hand.

Sing Timber

What is Sing Timber?

Sing Timber is a large mass of wood that can be milled to any specification. Its versatility is exemplified by wood shops who saw the large timber masses in more specific smaller planks as needed. Sing Timber can come in 12 inches wide by 12 inches tall and 96 inches in length, or you can get it already cut-to-order as Sing Hardwood.

Sing Timber can be broken down into any thickness and width, to create your own wood plank. You do not have to inventory all size of plank just by sawing Sing Timber to the desired thickness. You can slice the Sing Timber to any desired width, all you have to do is to seal the deal by gluing an exterior skin on the fresh sawed side to finish your new plank.

How Can I Use Sing Timber?

Sing Timber is manufactured with a heart of Sing Core,  coverd with exterior skins on at least two sides form a large box like timber mass. It  can be sawed horizontally, sanded and glued to form a smaller wood plank. It will create any dimensional wood and it cabn be covered any hardwood species, metal, plastic or even cement to create a new generation of ulitmate lightweight, high strength products.

Sing Timber is Better than Hardwood

Sing Timber’s Sing Core makes this the only hardwood material that is better than hardwood, for a integrous building material that is just a beautiful as solid natural hardwood with far superior structural integrity.

Sing Timber’s high-strength is due to Sing Core that is less expensive than solid hardwood. When Sing Timber is produced, the energy savings are impressive, as the actual production process uses less energy, man hours and equipment usage and produces little or no waste. Sing Timber is also sonstructed of low cost, renewable natural wood fiber and recycled EPS foam. Patented Sing Core is many times stronger than most of the core materials used in modern aircraft with much less weight and a fraction of the cost of core used in the aircraft industry. The cost can be less than 10% of the inefficient core used in aircraft design.

How does Sing Timber work?

When working with Sing Timber with a router, be certain to attach wood strips to the area to be routed, as the exterior wood surface along the face is minimal.

Sing 4×12 lumber can be easily sliced into alternate widths and thicknesses to suit your needs. No need to make multiple trips to the store to pick up the lumber you need, simply slice Sing Timber 4x12s into the size that you want on-site; Perfect for the millworker or ambitious do-it-yourselfer.

By sawing the sandwich panel cross the Sing core to form two pc of sing sandwich without skin on one side than add new skin or add new solid wood to build a two sandwich panel or two Sing panels at different thickness. Sing Timber is easily broken down into any dimension wood plank or hardwood. Sing Timber can be easily sliced to substitute for standard 2×4 lumber.

How Do You Add Hardwood Stave?

It is easy to add a sardwood stave to any cut or sawed section of Sing Timber.

Firstly, all you have to do is to sand the surface of your freshly-cut exposed Sing Core section of your plank.  Apply urethane glue or white glue to the smooth surface, then press. It’s that simple to turn a selection of Sing Timber into your own Sing Beam that is just as visually impressive as solid wood, but lighter weight and stronger than steel pound for pound.

Terms and Conditions- (1 deposit plus monthly payments)

A deposit of at least 20% of the total price of your order plus all applicable taxes. You may make additional payments at any time.

  • Your contract will be automatically cancelled and ordered merchandise will be returned to stock if you have not made at least 1 payment (10%) every 60 days.
  • You may pay by cash, check, credit card or debit card. Credit card payments will be accepted by phoning our accounts receivable department.
  • You may make upgrades, additions or material changes to this layaway order prior to final payment.
  • If you no longer desire the specified materials you must cancel your order.
  • Special orders, overstock and closeout are not eligible for layaway, unless approved by management or part of a special promotion.
  • You may pay the full balance on your layaway order at any time.
  • Layaway items will be made ready to package and ship following final payment.

Cancellation Policy:

You may cancel your layaway order at anytime by notifying Sing Core in writing, cancellation request sent to Sing Core, P.O. Box 1691, McCleary, WA 98557.

Your order will be automatically cancelled and ordered merchandise returned to stock:

  • If you have not made at least 1 payment every 60 days.
  • If your balance is not paid in full within two years.

In the event of cancellation, we will credit all monies you have paid towards a future purchase no refunds are given.

If, when you make your final payment, we are unable to provide you with the materials specified in the layaway contract, you will receive a full refund of the deposit and all subsequent payments made under this contract except as provided by law.
