What to Expect from Sing Core

What can I expect to receive when I order Sing products?

Sing Core only ships authentic Sing products to millworks and door manufacturers. Why? Because Sing products are raw building materials in unfinished condition. You cannot order a completed Sing door from Sing Core. Even though we are renowned the world over for the best doors, our web site clearly states,

“We do not build doors,” we only supply the best millworks and door manufacturers with the best professional door slabs which can be guaranteed not to warp, bend, twist, or otherwise fail for 50 years.

See also, What We Do: http://singcore.com/education/what-we-do

Don’t you have a standard Sing door?

No. Every custom door we build is like a one-of-a-kind work of art, though we are able to build many of the same type/style/size of doors at the same time, which can reduce pricing if purchased in bulk.

Don’t you want to make Sing Core available to the world?

Yes, we do, but remember, Sing Core is shipped in an unfinished condition and therefor is not ready for public consumption. It would be similar to ordering a 20×40 concrete slab, then being upset when the concrete truck shows up because you wanted a completed slab, not wet concrete. (The contractor knows what’s going on, but it might be a shock to the contractor’s customer.)

Isn’t Sing Core available in retail locations, like Lowe’s?

Yes, and no. We only ship to locations which have a full millwork shop inside to adequately finish the Sing products for their clientele. If the retailer does not have a full millwork shop for finishing Sing products, we will not intentionally ship unfinished product to that location.

What if I’m a contractor and my client wants Sing Core?

No problem, we will ship directly to your millwork, or the finisher of your choice. Once the Sing products have been finished, they can be installed by your installers.

How does architectural specification affect our bid?

If you’re a contractor bidding on a project where Sing Core has been specified, note that your quote from Sing Core is for unfinished materials. For instance, if a 20 ft x 10 ft x 4 in pivot door with birch wood stave has been architecturally specified, you will only receive the unfinished door slab with the appropriate interior supports for the hardware specified. You will still need to have the slab finished and prepped for hardware by your millwork, you will also need to source and price hardware, and account for framing and installation to complete the job.

What if my warp-free products show up warped?

Professional millwork companies know it is common for panels to display some warp when unpacked due to being crated and transported. It is the nature of raw materials which are packed, and traverse varying climate conditions while being shipped. Acclimatization of Sing products (separating them, standing them on edge for 72 hours, and allowing them to acclimate to your climate will allow the products to return to their true flat condition).

What if my Sing products are defective?

In the event that your professional Sing panels are warped beyond AWI standards, or the architectural standards as notated by your work order, you may have a defective Sing panel. Working with our warranty department will help to determine if you have a defective sing panel. If so, Sing Core will fix, repair, or replace the defective panel to assure its architectural integrity.

Know What You’re Getting

We at Sing Core want you to know what you’re getting, wo that you can be prepared to enjoy the best Eco-friendly lightweight/high strength raw building material available and achieve its maximum potential and elegance.

AWI Members Large Door Solution

When you’re dealing with high end large doors, long conference tables and oversized casework, you need to deal with a reputable millwork company who is highly qualified and well versed in many Architectural Woodwork Standards which help to create high precision products. Being a member of the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) is an excellent way to assure the woodworking professionals you are working with are knowledgeable and proficient in their woodworking capabilities.

The highest quality standard endorsed by the AWI is Premium, yet some clients have much higher performance and expectations which raise the architectural standards across the board. The architect is faced with specifying the standards the client desires, which may far exceed AWI Premium standards.

One such common request includes high performance expectations for components which AWI maintains low expectations.

For instance, if the client’s desire is to have a 12 foot tall wood pivot door with little or no deflection or door warp, there is no matching AWI standard. The standard for allowable deflection in a 7 foot tall door including warp, bow, cup, or twist is 1/4 inch. There exists no official standard for doors over 7 feet tall, and millworks and door companies are likely to require a signed waiver from the client signing-off on any expectations of warranty on any greater than 7 foot tall doors.

Even though 1/4 inch warp is recognized as a reasonable amount of deflection and allowable by AWI standards, in some cases the expectations of the client still remains. The architect specifies the desires of the client and it is up to the millwork company or door manufacturer to determine how it might be possible to create an enormous warp-free door of any size.

Fortunately, AWI members can reach out to AWI suppliers, like SingCore, who specialize in helping to design and create warp-free doors of any size, type or style.

The true-flat experts at SingCore are extremely proficient in creating warp-free panels of any size which can be structurally guaranteed not to fail or warp for 50 years. So, if the rest of the job is guaranteed for 10 years by the millwork conducting the work, then offering to warranty the entire job – including the large oversized doors – then becomes reasonable.

Prior to coming to SingCore one door company simply stated, “All large doors warp and cannot be guaranteed under any circumstances.” Now, thanks to utilizing the services of certified warp-free SingCore doors, the company can deliver the results according to the architectural specifications and expectations of the customer.

Not simply restricted to doors, the ability of SingCore to provide extremely flat large surfaces of any material that can be guaranteed to remain flat over time spills over into many other products and services.

Common surface materials include any available natural wood species, aluminum, brass, concrete, cold rolled steel, fiberglass, FRP, glass, hot rolled steel, HPL, Kevlar, LVL, MDF, stainless steel, veneer or any other commercially available flat material.

SingCore is increasingly being architecturally specified as the standalone solution for many large exterior projects where particular components are exposed to the elements as well as interior woodwork, panel work, partition work, casework and fixtures as supplied or manufactured for all types of buildings across many industries including retail, commercial, hospitality, industrial and high end residential industries.

You might be surprised to discover how more and more architects are specifying SingCore in their woodworking, metal, laminates, plastics, fabrics, design work, finishing and installation.

AWI members know if they are faced with a problematic large oversize project with challenges associated with insulation, weight, strength, high precision or high performance, reaching out and suggesting,

“SingCore Inside”

Is the only solution which can be guaranteed for 50 years.

“This is why we like working with AWI members,” says CEO and inventor of SingCore, Peter Sing, “They know how to work with our solution to their challenges.”

Sing Panels with Plumbing and Wire Chase

sing-panel-horizontal-embedded-cable-chase-wire-chase-plumbing-chaseCustom Sing Panels can be manufactured to your architectural specifications which may include special chases for plumbers to route hot and cold water feeds via plumbing or electricians to run electrical wiring, communications and security through a patented Sing panel.

Surface mount conduit and exterior chases can be added to Sing panels as they are, though many users of our patented insulation reinforced torsion box core prefer to use embedded wiring chase of for water supply pre-installed plumbing chase.

Embedded Chases

Embedded chases can be placed at specified locations prior to manufacturing your Sing panel to meet the specific requirement of the job at hand, accommodating communications center needs or the special needs of inplant offices, clean rooms, temporary warehousing, watch towers, guard shacks, portable classrooms, spa expansions, home theaters or any application where running utilities, like electricity, wiring and/or cables or plumbing inside and through your Sing panel may be advantageous.

Common horizontal chases are specified at 16 inches and 45 inches from the base, while the most common location for a vertical chase is in the center of the Sing panel. Regardless, every Sing panel is custom manufactured in our factory, and we can have your wire chase or plumbing pre-installed within your panels at any location specified.

How to Specify Wire Chase Locations

sing-panel-embedded-cable-chase-wire-chase-plumbing-chaseIt is easy to have your embedded chases pre-installed at the proper locations. All you have to do is to be certain to disclose the precise locations and sizes of your wire chase (plumbing chase or cable chase). We will provide you with an architectural drawing of your panel before your custom Sing panel is built for you to confirm the chase’s location.

No Loss of R Value

To preserve the R-value of your Sing panel it is advisable to have the cable chase filled with spray foam insulation after pulling the wires or routing the plumbing through the embedded channels. Likewise, if a channel is not used, it should also be filled with foam insulation prior to final assembly, unless insulation properties are not necessary for your application.

Panel Chase Options

Although many options abound for electricians and plumbers to install access to services, another popular method includes running cable, wire and plumbing through panel connectors that run the length of your standard Sing panels, or alternatively running services through the floor.

Many creative options are available for adding access to water, electricity and communications without having the necessity of pre-installed chases being embedded in your Sing panels.

Sing Core does not rate doors, although we are fortunate enough to have one of the best sound testing labs in the world, here in the Pacific Northwest. If you require a specific STC rating, Sing Core can build a door to your architectural specifications and have the resulting door tested at our rating facility for an official rating.
