Large Sliding Doors

If you’re looking for the best large sliding door, you’ve come to the right place. Sing Core specializes in creating the ultimate sliding door experience. We manufacture the only door substrate that you can use to create the most extraordinary doors in the world.

The above picture is a demonstration of Sing Core’s strength.  Two 8’x9′ oak doors (approx. 800 lbs.) laying on top of two 7’x8′ curved doors.  The curved doors had no visible movement due to the high strength of Sing Core. As you can see, the eye plate is so small but can support such a large door panel.

These three curved panels measure 7’x8′ and are built to the highest precision and strength to last a lifetime.

Here is another example of a curved door with a smaller radius built with the exact same expertise.

Sliding Doors
The deal with sliding doors is that you want your sliding doors to remain straight and true throughout their service life. Architects, designers and end users face the issues associated with sliding doors, but rest easy knowing your sliding door has Sing Core inside.

Problems with Sliding Doors
The first problem with sliding doors is that they tend to move (warp, bend, twist or cup) compromising the doors’ performance. Especially in the case of sliding doors because they hang parallel to a wall (like sliding barn doors), next to another door (such as double sliding doors) or within a wall (like sliding pocket doors). If the door does not stay straight, it can wreck either the sliding doors or the surfaces they slide against, or both.

One way to overcome the warpage issue is to utilize stronger materials which tends to greatly increase the weight. The downside is that increasing the doors’ weight creates another set of challenge. For example, heavier doors require heavy duty hinges to support the doors. Heavier doors also require more labor for handling, installation, and any servicing it may require.

As you can see, this massive door is 8’x9′ and remains perfectly straight.  So straight, in fact, that it is perfectly freestanding on end!  If there was even the slightest amount of warpage, then this door would topple over.

Sliding Door Design Problems Solved
Architects and engineers are constantly perplexed with the problems associated with sliding doors, fortunately an Eco-friendly composite solution made in the USA, helps to solve the problems associated with faulty sliding door design. Patented Sing Core, along with their true flat door team, can help to create sliding doors that will remain straight and true far beyond the service life of any other sliding doors. By working with Sing Core’s design staff a combination of Sing Core and patent-pending sliding door stiffening solutions can create perfect sliding doors that are lightweight, high strength and can be guaranteed not to warp, bend, twist, cup or otherwise fail for 50 years.

These oak doors are manufactured with the highest precision.  As you can see, there is no gap between the two oak doors.  If they were slightly warped, or a little uneven, there would be a gap showing, possibly more.

The Perfect Large Sliding Doors
The best custom door manufacturers and millworks who offer long warranties on their large doors have Sing Core inside. A properly designed and built large sliding door with patented professional Sing Core inside can be guaranteed not to warp, bend, twist or otherwise fail for 50 years.

Impossible Doors Our Specialty

If you would like to know more about how to design a door with Sing Core inside, click here.

When it comes to building the most unique doors, especially large, oversized doors of any size (up to 20 x 60 ft. or more), type, or style of door, Sing Core’s True Flat Team knows how to bridge the gap between impossible and possible, by applying many variations of their patented and patent-pending technologies to make it happen. Some of our most recent projects include curved doors, Sing stile and rail doors, new patent pending Sing Core stile and rails, long-span wood stave planks, CNC door carving blanks, large sliders with man doors, billionaire home doors, and hot rolled steel doors.

When an architect’s visionary project is coming to life, it is common for the project to come to a halt when the main door (this inspired visual centerpiece of the project) presents problems for the millwork or door company in charge of the rest of the door schedule.

Oftentimes, the most common response is, “We will build it, or have it built, to your specifications, but this door will be placed on a separate rider, excluding it from any other warranty that may be covering the remainder of the door schedule.”

The door company will probably not even bother with the manufacturing of this piece, as it is too costly to re-tool to build it and it is likely to fail not long after installation. So, they will sub it out, and have an artisan millwork build it, freeing them from any responsibility for follow up maintenance calls regarding this piece of the job.

That is, unless they are working directly with Sing Core.

Many of the biggest door companies and high-end millworks are back into the specialty door business because they have partnered with Sing Core.

Why Sing Core?

Sing Core offers solutions that make impossible doors possible, and not only possible, but these magnificent works of art can be guaranteed not to fail, as they are covered by Sing’s

50-Year No Fail Guarantee

These enormous or one-of-a-kind unique doors are nothing short of amazing, with unparalleled service records and longevity, and they are guaranteed not to warp, bend, twist, cup or otherwise fail (including full structure and lamination warranty) for 50-years. No other door in the world comes with such an impressive guarantee unless it has Sing Core inside.

The Most Unique and Challenging Doors

Large doors are not the only unique and challenging doors to come to the attention of the True Flat Team. Many other types of architectural doors will present a huge list of problems that will send door engineers, designers, and custom door makers running for cover, yet they are no problem for the Sing Core factory teaming up with the sophisticated door manufacturer or millwork to accomplish. Like these:

Curved Doors

Curved doors are unique specialty doors, that require precise curvatures, especially if they are being newly installed in a pre-existing wall or structure that is curved. Matching the curvature of the door to the existing wall can be extremely difficult, but the True Flat Team at Sing Core make the perfect curved door to match any curved wall or structure, while still guaranteeing the door for 50 years to perform without warp.

Sing Stile and Rail Doors

The Sing-style of stile and rail door is a departure from traditional stile and rail door technology. The clients who prefer the Sing-style stile and rail door are looking for characteristics that are unavailable via traditional door building methods but still retain the look and feel of a traditional stile and rail door. Specifically, they are looking for a stile and rail door that is impact resistant, insulated for both sound deadening and climate control, and of course guaranteed for 50 years. Sing Core accomplishes this by building the stile and rail face on top of a patented warp-free core.

Large Thin Stile and Rail Framed Doors

Sometimes the architectural door specifications are unusual, like this wood-framed traditional stile and rail door with a large glass lite opening. This is a 14 foot tall door that calls for only a three-inch wood stile and rail surround to hold the glass. This is unusual and would be hard to accomplish with standard door building methods, and it was even a challenge for the True Flat Team, which led to their creating a new type of stiffener, which is now patent-pending technology. Now, standard stile and rail doors made with Sing Core stiles and rails can be guaranteed to remain warp-free for 50 years using new patent pending Sing Core stile and rails.

20-ft Span Wood Stave Garage Door

This is just one example to the many kinds of garage doors that Sing Core has helped to make possible. In this case, the architect insisted on 20-ft spanning warp-free wood stave planks, that any other way would have been impossible. 50 years from now, will be just as straight and true as freshly installed thanks to Sing Core and their long-span wood stave planks.

CNC Carved Doors

These beautifully CNC carved doors would be impossible to keep straight as they are accentuating the wood’s natural grain which is already trouble brewing, if not for the warp-free Sing Core working hard behind the scenes, deep inside to keep these doors perfectly and truly flat even though they are 107-inches tall using Sing CNC door carving blanks.

Large Sliding Doors with Man Doors

When it comes to large sliding doors with man doors, there is really only one way to do it with a high degree of precision. The large sliders with man doors must remain decidedly straight and true in order for the man door to operate seamlessly, plus, because there is Sing Core inside, you get the added benefit(s) of getting lightweight, high strength, fully insulated for sound and climate control, and our 50-year warp-free guarantee.

Billionaire’s Exotic Home Doors

These massive natural teak doors have Sing Core inside to keep them from warping and also to provide added protection from outside interferences to privacy and the elements. Not everyone can have their whole homes fitted with Sing’s doors, but what a great feeling it is having done so with Sing’s billionaire home doors.

Hot Rolled Steel Doors

Hot rolled steel doors can be a challenge, especially if they are very large. Normally, large hot rolled steel means a lot of weight needs to be articulated adding stress and strain to the frame, hardware, and structure if used very often. Patented and patent-pending Sing Core reduces the weight greatly while enhancing the door’s characteristics enabling one to install a man door or open and close a mammoth-sized hot rolled steel door easily.

When Bigger is Better

Thanks to the patented and patent-pending technologies in the hands of the True Flat Team at Sing Core bigger does not necessarily have to mean heavier or big troubles are ahead. With Sing Core inside your big doors can be lightweight, high strength, fully insulated, and guaranteed warp-free for 50 years.

How to Build the Best High-End Stile and Rail Door

Honored to be in the business of helping the biggest door manufacturers and high-end millworks building the best doors in the world, Sing Core is world renowned for building the best enormous doors that are lightweight, high strength, fully insulated, and guaranteed to perform warp-free for 50 years. But did you know that we also make the world’s strongest lightweight and insulated stile and rail doors?

The popularity of stile and rail doors has been around for years because, number one, they look amazing. They have a unique appearance as they are manufactured of panels of various sizes. The most popular, and it is the one you are most likely to think of when you think of a stile and rail door, is the six-panel door.

Hands down, this is by far the most popular design. The traditional six panel door is made up of 15 individual wood pieces with alternating grain orientation and all the components are assembled by varying means depending on the application of the door.

If the best feature of the stile and rail door is the undeniable appearance of the door, the second-best feature of the stile and rail door is it’s ability to stay relatively straight over the life of the door. This is accomplished by varying the grain orientation of all the individual panel pieces, which push and pull against each other, unlike a traditional solid slab door which can move wildly at any time or according to any change in the environment.

But the biggest disadvantages include very low insulation value. This means they are not well suited for climate control or sound reduction, and for high-end clients, though they love the appearance of the panel doors, they are not very strong.

If you build stile and rail doors, you may need to know how new technology can lower your labor costs and increase your productivity when building all types, styles, and designs of doors. Sing Core has done it and proven it backed by the best guarantee in the industry.
We can help you:

  • Meet your production needs – Fast Delivery
  • Exceed your quality expectations – High Precision
  • Reduce your labor cost – Money Saving
  • Structural guarantee – 50 Years!
  • Custom sizes – Any Size or Weight
  • Fully insulated and sound deadening door panels

The Sing solution is to build your stile and rail door on top of the patented Sing Panel Door Substrate invented by Peter Sing. Sing’s substrate is lightweight, high strength, fully insulated and comes back by the only

50-year Warp-free Guarantee

in the door industry.

Now, you do not have to settle for a weak stile and rail door because your stile and rail door can have Sing Core inside.

How to Build a Stile and Rail Door

The first step is to start with Sing’s patented core which is built of small metric vertical grain torsion box where the voids are filled with foam for insulation, and this is sandwiched between two stress skins.

The next stage is where the expertise of the millworks and door manufacturers come in. Instead of manufacturing the door out of individual pieces of wood stuck together, the panel design elements, as in our six-panel door option shown here, are added to the surface of the door.

This gives you the appearance of the traditional six panel that we all have come to love, but if your six-panel door has Sing Core inside, you have the lightweight for panel doors of enormous size, or adjustable weight for smaller doors, with all the insulation and incredible unbreakable strength.

This is just the beginning. Sing can help you make any kind of door. Sing Core is featured in all kinds of doors and is highly sought after when creating replacement doors is historical restorations, especially if they are large doors which are problematic for maintenance because they do not have Sing Core inside. We do not sell our products to homeowners, door stores, or door shops.

Problem Solved.

Custom Wood Door Skins

Choosing the Right Custom Wood Door Skin for Sing Core Door Panels

Choosing the best custom door skin for your Sing Core door panel is key. The right finish balances beauty, budget, and function. Here’s a simple guide to five options: Wood Stave, Hot Press Veneer, Cold Press Paperback Veneer, HPL, and Wood Siding/Flooring.

Summary: Best Custom Door Skin for Your Sing Core Door

Pick based on your needs, budget, and style. Here’s a quick comparison:

Custom Door Skin Type Best For Key Benefits Considerations
Wood Stave Interior & Exterior Doors Stable, durable, repairable, great for large doors Slightly higher cost; best with staves under 6 inches wide
Hot Press Veneer High-end Interior Doors Seamless, beautiful appearance Expensive and delicate; not for exterior use
Cold Press Paperback Budget Interior Applications Affordable, natural wood look Hard to repair; not ideal for high-impact areas
HPL High-traffic & commercial use Durable, moisture-resistant, cost-effective Less natural texture than real wood
Wood Siding/Flooring Thick, solid wood look Strong, stylish, customizable Needs floating fasteners to prevent warping

For best results, pair your custom door skin with Sing Core’s patented core technology. This ensures strength, stability, and precision. Whether you need a luxury pivot door, sliding barn door, or oversized feature, Sing Core delivers lasting value with low maintenance.

Need help choosing the best custom door skin? Contact Sing Core today!

Wood Stave Custom Door Skin

Wood stave uses solid wood strips glued together. This method highlights natural wood grain and works well for premium exterior doors.

Our 1/8″ (.125 inch) wood stave is better than 1/4″ (.25 inch). The thinner option is more stable but looks the same. Sing Core recommends 1/8″ for precision and less distortion.

For best results, keep each stave under 6 inches wide. Narrower staves reduce movement from moisture. Unlike solid wood, stave construction is stable and easy to fix. Repair with a handheld router or CNC shaper. Even forklift damage is repairable with Sing Core.

Wood stave suits interior and exterior doors. It works for pivot, hinge, and sliding doors. There’s no size limit, making it great for large doors. Costs are similar to or slightly higher than hot press veneer doors.

Custom Door made with a Custom Door Skin

Custom Door made with a Custom Door Skin

Hot Press Veneer Custom Door Skin

Hot press veneer bonds thin wood veneer (.020 to .032 inches) to a panel with heat and pressure. It creates a seamless, smooth finish with book-matched or slip-matched patterns.

It looks stunning but is delicate. Thin veneer scratches easily and damages from minor impacts. It’s best for interior use and not for exterior doors.

Hot press veneer doors are expensive, especially large ones over 5 feet by 10 feet. They offer a high-end look but need careful handling.

Cold Press Paperback Veneer Custom Door Skins

Cold press paperback veneer is a budget-friendly choice with a natural wood look. This method uses adhesive instead of heat. Pressure holds the veneer in place until the glue sets. It works with vacuum presses, contact cement, or cold press systems.

“Paperback” means the veneer has a paper backing for stability. Cold press veneer is the most affordable custom door skin.

However, it’s hard to repair if damaged. It’s best for low-impact interior use.

High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) Custom Door Skins

Wood grain-look High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) is tough and budget-friendly. It’s a great alternative to real wood.

HPL resists moisture, scratches, and wear better than wood. Its wood grain texture gives warmth and elegance without warping or fading. HPL doors are easy to clean, making them ideal for homes, offices, and commercial spaces.

HPL comes in many finishes, offering plenty of design options. It’s a durable, affordable custom door skin.

Wood Siding or Flooring (3/8″ – 3/4″) Custom Door Skins

Wood siding or flooring panels give a thick, solid wood look. These custom door skins add durability and a natural wood feel. They come in various hardwoods and softwoods for different designs.

Only use floating mechanical fasteners for this Custom Door skin, such as:

  • Keyhole fasteners
  • French cleats
  • Furring strips

Floating fasteners allow wood movement and prevent warping or cracking.
