Dual Pocket Doors Made with Sing Core

People often think of doors as simple barriers or entryways, but at Sing Core, we know that a door can be much more than that. Doors can be elegant accents to a room’s design, or a seamless way to change a room’s layout. If done right, they can even be part of a room’s main design feature, such as in the example we’re showing you today.

This customer needed a way to separate two areas of the house, but was fairly limited in their options due to their design preference. Due to the height of the room, a standard door would not work unless they expanded on the center wall, which would majorly damage the flow and beauty of the room. A normal sliding door would work, but the dimensions would be incredibly difficult to get right. The door would have to be incredibly tall, yet narrow, which would need to be custom made. If this was done with traditional materials, the doors would likely be too heavy to work reliably, and could damage their hardware. Sing Core, however, was a great solution.

Because Sing Core panels are made with a honeycomb core, they are incredibly lightweight, yet still very strong. This means that the custom doors would still be sturdy and long lasting, but due to their low weight, they’d also be easy to use and be far less likely to damage their hardware. In fact, each of these doors only weigh 200 pounds, despite being over 13 feet tall.

These twin pocket doors measure 40 inches wide by 158 inches tall, and are 2.5 inches thick. This tall and narrow design worked beautifully for the room, though is definitely a non-standard size. Getting a door like this without having it custom made would be impossible, but luckily Sing Core specializes in large, high end custom doors.

A Sing Core door can be ordered to nearly any shape or size, and are strong, lightweight, and durable. One major concern with large doors is the possibility of warping, which gets exponentially more likely, and often exponentially worse, with larger doors. In the case of this project, even just a slight warp could ruin the entire system. A little bend or twist could leave a door stuck in its pocket, or scraping the side as it is opened and closed, damaging both the door and the wall nearby. There are many ways a warp can hinder or ruin a door, and often, warps are irrecoverable. Sing Core doors are guaranteed to never warp, and we can make that claim due to our innovative and patented honeycomb core. In fact, each door panel comes with a 50 Year Warp-Free and Structural Guarantee, so you can rest easy without worrying about your door failing on you.

Sing Core is thrilled to have had the chance to work on this beautiful project, and we hope to work on your next amazing project with you. Submit a quote request on our website to learn what we can do for you!

Create The Best Doors with Windows Using Sing Core

Doors with windows in them offer a myriad of benefits, from enhancing natural light to improving aesthetics. However, designing and constructing such doors pose unique challenges. In this article, we will explore these challenges and discuss why Sing Core is the leading choice in the industry for creating custom doors with windows.

Structural Integrity and Stability

One of the primary challenges in manufacturing doors with windows lies in maintaining structural integrity and stability. The addition of a window weakens the door’s core, making it prone to warping, bending, or even breaking. Traditional materials like wood or metal struggle to address this issue effectively, leading to compromised durability.

Sing Core, on the other hand, employs a patented honeycomb core that utilizes torsion box construction. This design consists of high quality hardwood and industrial insulation in a perfectly crafted core that is unlike anything else on the market. The resulting core is lightweight yet incredibly strong, ensuring optimal stability and minimizing the risk of warping or bending. In addition, every Sing Core door comes with a 50 Year Warp-Free and Structural Guarantee, so you never have to worry about your door warping or failing on you.

Insulation and Energy Efficiency

Windows inherently pose challenges to insulation and energy efficiency. They are susceptible to air leakage, resulting in increased energy consumption and decreased comfort levels. In addition, low end doors provide little to no insulation themselves, which compounds the issue. Maintaining a consistent temperature and preventing drafts is crucial in achieving energy-efficient doors with windows.

Sing Core’s composite core technology excels in insulation properties. Its honeycomb structure provides an exceptional thermal barrier, significantly reducing heat transfer and air leakage. This insulation prowess helps maintain desired indoor temperatures, resulting in reduced energy costs and enhanced comfort.

Acoustic Performance

Another challenge faced in creating doors with windows is maintaining acoustic performance. Noise transmission through the window can disrupt privacy, productivity, and overall tranquility. Traditional doors often struggle to provide adequate sound insulation, especially when windows are incorporated.

Sing Core’s unique construction offers remarkable sound deadening properties. The combination of its core and the high-quality materials creates a barrier that effectively absorbs sound vibrations. While a glass window will lessen the sound reduction in general, improving this quality throughout the rest of the door improves the overall effect compared to traditional materials. This superior acoustic performance helps maintain quiet and peaceful environments, making Sing Core doors with windows ideal for offices, bedrooms, or any space that requires noise control.

Design Flexibility

Crafting doors with windows also involves the challenge of achieving design flexibility. Customization options are vital to match diverse architectural styles, interior aesthetics, and functional requirements. Balancing aesthetics, functionality, and structural integrity can be demanding.

Sing Core doors excel in offering design versatility, especially when integrating components into the surface such as a window. It can accommodate various window sizes and shapes, allowing for creative design possibilities. Whether it’s an expansive glass panel or a series of smaller windows, Sing Core’s composite core technology ensures the door’s stability and integrity, regardless of the chosen window configuration.

Conclusion

Crafting doors with windows presents unique challenges that require innovative solutions. Sing Core’s composite core technology provides the ideal answer, offering exceptional structural integrity, insulation, acoustic performance, and design flexibility. With Sing Core, manufacturers and consumers can enjoy the benefits of doors with windows without compromising on quality or durability.

Lounge Room Door Made With Sing Core

Sing Core has been working with several universities regarding custom doors lately, such as with the University of Idaho and their arena door, the University of Alabama and a sorority house door, and now the University of Maryland with a custom sliding door for one of their lounges.

|

The University of Maryland worked with the brilliant people at USAM to get a large custom sliding door for their Heritage Community lounge room, and they reached out to Sing Core to make that work. Sing Core and USAM worked together to create a beautiful 3 piece modular sliding door. This door can separate into three panels along the sliding track, allowing for a custom setup to the walkway. It can also be completely opened and closed in order to really open up the area.

This large sliding door measures 168 inches wide by 120 inches tall, and is 2 inches thick. It contained splines to stiffen the panels and further improve the structural integrity, as well as a Formica finishing panel to give it that gorgeous end result. The door parts slide along an upper rail, which provides smooth and reliable operation.

This lounge room is in Pyon-Chen hall, one of two areas that make up the Heritage Community at UMD. It is a multipurpose location, intended to suit all sorts of recreational and student needs. Due to the location, the unique modular aspect, and the traffic, the designers of this door needed to make sure they got a high quality, durable, and long lasting product. That is why they went with Sing Core, and we are honored that they did!

Sing Core panels have many benefits over traditional door making methods, but there are three main ones that relate to a project like this: strength and durability, weight, and lifespan.

Sing Core doors are incredibly strong and durable, though surprisingly lightweight. This is possible due to the patented honeycomb core used within every Sing Core door. This honeycomb core provides exceptional strength and impact resistance, while also remaining amazingly lightweight. Where a traditional door panel may take several people to haul and install, most Sing Core panels can be carried by only two people, and even one if the panel is sized right.

The patented core and high grade materials used also give our doors outstanding durability, preventing many of the damages that would otherwise leave a door ugly or unusable. Especially being in a high-traffic area such as a university lounge room, durability, impact resistance, and longevity are vital. Heavy traffic walkways can see increased damage to the doors and walls around them. Sing Core doors aren’t easily damaged, and if they do receive a ding or scratch, they are easy to repair. In addition, all Sing Core panels are guaranteed to be warp-free for 50 years, which is unheard of in the door market. Warped doors are a massive problem, and unfortunately, many doors can eventually warp, regardless of the care put into making them. Sing Core doors, however, are guaranteed to never warp, and that is all thanks to the unique construction used to make them.

Sing Core is thrilled to have had the chance to work on this amazing project. Thanks again to the University of Maryland and the talented design and installation teams, as this would not have been possible without them.

Overcoming the Challenges of Custom Shaped Doors

Doors are not just functional elements in our homes and buildings; they are also essential design features that add character and aesthetic appeal. As architectural styles evolve and become more intricate, the demand for uniquely shaped doors has increased. However, crafting such doors presents a multitude of challenges for manufacturers. In this article, we will explore the difficulties of making shaped doors and how Sing Core can overcome these challenges.

Complex Shapes and Structural Integrity

One of the primary challenges in creating shaped doors is maintaining structural integrity while accommodating intricate designs. Traditional door materials such as solid wood or fiberglass often struggle to retain their shape and stability when subjected to unusual configurations. As a result, manufacturers face limitations in terms of design possibilities.

Sing Core, on the other hand, does no have these limitations. Composed of a lightweight yet incredibly strong honeycomb core, Sing Core has remarkable stability, even in complex shapes. Its unique construction incorporates a torsion box grid structure that ensures optimal strength, rigidity, and dimensional stability. This characteristic allows for the creation of doors with elaborate curves, arches, and other non-standard shapes.

Weight and Handling Issues

Another significant challenge in crafting shaped doors lies in their weight and the subsequent handling difficulties. Traditional materials used for door construction, such as solid wood or metal, can be heavy and unwieldy. This poses challenges during installation, transportation, and everyday use.

Sing Core panels address this issue by being exceptionally lightweight while maintaining their structural integrity. By utilizing a combination of advanced composite materials and a honeycomb grid core, Sing Core achieves an impressive strength-to-weight ratio. As a result, shaped doors made with Sing Core are significantly lighter than their traditional counterparts, making them easier to handle and reducing strain during installation.

Warping and Moisture Resistance

Traditional doors, especially those made of solid wood, are prone to warping and distortion when exposed to fluctuations in temperature and humidity. This is a persistent challenge for shaped doors, as the irregular surfaces and edges increase the potential for warping.

Sing Core panels, however, are guaranteed to be warp-free. Their high quality design and strong core eliminates the risk of warping and distortion. The honeycomb core of Sing Core also plays a vital role in maintaining dimensional stability over time. This ensures that shaped doors retain their intended form, even in challenging environmental conditions. In addition, all Sing Core panels come with a 50 Year Warp-Free and Structural Guarantee, so you can trust our panels to hold strong for many years to come.

Precision and Customization

Crafting shaped doors requires precise measurements, intricate detailing, and customization to meet specific design requirements. Traditional manufacturing methods often struggle to achieve the necessary precision, leading to inconsistencies and compromises in the final product.

Sing Core panels can be completely customized and are made with the necessary precision to meet the unique specifications of any design. This level of customization allows for the creation of truly one-of-a-kind shaped doors that fulfill the vision of architects, designers, and homeowners.

Conclusion

The challenges of creating shaped doors are significant, but with Sing Core, the industry has found a game-changing solution. By combining remarkable strength, lightweight construction, warp resistance, and precise customization capabilities, Sing Core panels enable the production of stunning shaped doors that were once thought to be impractical or unattainable. As architectural designs continue to push boundaries, Sing Core proves to be an invaluable asset in meeting the demands of modern construction and design, revolutionizing the industry in the process.

Large Doors by Sing Core

We often mention how amazing Sing Core is for making large, or even massive doors. However, what kind of claim would that be if we couldn’t back it up with proof? In this article we will go over three amazing and massive doors that were made possible by Sing Core, as well as why Sing Core panels are the best, and often the only choice to make large doors possible.

Laserfiche Dual Sliding Doors

The first example of large doors we’ll cover is a set of two sliding doors made for the Laserfiche headquarters in California. The largest of these doors is 102 inches tall by 118 inches wide, or 8.5 feet tall by 9.8 feet wide. The designers and installation crew did an amazing job with these beautiful doors, especially given their unique case of closing off the corner of the room as opposed to a more traditional sliding door setup. You can read more about this project here.

University of Idaho Arena Door

Another recent project that yielded a massive and gorgeous door was this crowd control door for the Idaho Central Arena. This large door measures in at 89.5 inches tall and 120.5 inches wide, or approximately 7.5 feet tall by 10 feet wide. This door acts as both an access point and a traffic control mechanism. When closed, this door simply seals off an area, but by opening it and positioning it as desired, you can divert the massive crowds within the arena onto a new route. Due to its use in a high traffic area, it also needs to be more sturdy and durable than a traditional door, which was made easy with Sing Core. You can read more about this project here.

Giant Pink Door

Though we’ve shown this door off before, it simply can’t be left off of this list. It is a perfect example of a large custom door that simply would not have been possible without Sing Core. This door is 156 inches tall by 36 inches wide, or 13 feet tall by 3 feet wide. In addition to this door’s unique and massive size, it also needed one key feature of Sing Core panels: to be lightweight. This door, unlike most large doors, is mounted on hinges. Typically large doors use rollers or a pivot mechanism, however not this one. As such, it had to be incredibly lightweight for its size, as hinges are far more likely to bend, break, or otherwise develop problems if they are supporting a lot of weight. This door, like all Sing Core doors, is very light compared to traditional options, and yet sacrifices none of the strength.

There are many reasons why you may want to use Sing Core for your large doors, but ultimately what makes our product special is its superior strength, high quality, and low weight. In addition, our panels will never warp or bend, which large doors are especially prone to. Warping is a quick way to permanently ruin a door, but with Sing Core, you can rest easy knowing that it will never happen. In fact, we offer a 50 Year Warp-Free Guarantee as a testament to that fact.

Use Sing Core for your large custom doors, and witness the difference and ease as a result!

One type of door that is immensely popular in the architecture industry is the pivot door. Pivot doors offer several benefits that make them an attractive choice for a range of commercial applications, from storefronts and galleries to hotels and offices. In this article, we’ll explore some of the different uses for pivot doors in commercial buildings and how Sing Core can help you achieve the perfect look and functionality for your space.

First, let’s take a look at what makes pivot doors so appealing. Unlike traditional hinged doors that swing on a set of hinges, pivot doors are anchored at the top and bottom, allowing them to rotate smoothly on a fixed pivot point. This design allows for larger and heavier doors to be used, while still maintaining ease of operation. Pivot doors are also known for their sleek, modern look, with clean lines and minimal hardware that create a contemporary feel.

One common use for pivot doors in the commercial scene is as a store entrance. Pivot doors can create an impressive and welcoming entrance for customers, while also allowing for easy accessibility. Additionally, the larger size and unique possibilities of pivot doors can help to make a small storefront appear more spacious and inviting. With Sing Core’s expertise in custom door design, you can choose from a variety of finishes and styles to create a unique entrance that reflects your brand’s aesthetic.

Another popular feature of pivot doors in commercial applications is the possibilities when it comes to size. Pivot doors, unlike hinged doors, can be massive without having to worry about breaking hardware. Pivot doors often make use of much more durable hardware that their hinged counterparts, and by mounting them from the top and bottom you are securing it in a way that puts less overall wear on said hardware. Sing Core panels are particularly great for pivot doors, as their lightweight and highly customizable nature means you can get nearly any door, and of nearly any size, while it remains light and easy to use. With Sing Core’s custom design capabilities, you can also create pivot doors that perfectly match the existing theme of your space, while still providing the functionality you need.

In hotels and other hospitality spaces, pivot doors can be used to create an impressive and memorable entrance. For example, a grand pivot door could be used to create a dramatic entrance to a hotel lobby or event space. Pivot doors can also be used to create privacy and separation within rooms, such as between a sleeping area and a living space, or between two office spaces. With Sing Core’s expertise in creating custom doors, you can create a one-of-a-kind entrance or room divider that will leave a lasting impression on guests.

Finally, pivot doors can be used in a variety of other commercial settings, such as museums, galleries, and retail spaces. In conclusion, pivot doors are a versatile and stylish choice for a wide range of commercial applications.
