How to Build a Wall

Building an interior wall, either fixed or temporary is an all-day affair for the do-it-yourselfer. Using patented Sing products you can build an insulated lightweight, high-strength sound-deadening wall in minutes.

There are several methods for building a wall using Sing products.

#1 – Sing Sandwich

This is the least expensive and most common way to build a wall using 4 ft. x 8 ft.

No frame is necessary

EXAMPLE

In this example, this room conversion can be completed in just minutes with six (6) insulated Sing Sandwich panels. This could be the division of a master bedroom or office, anywhere/any time; and the whole system can be assembled, disassembled and reconfigured as necessary.

How to Connect Sing Sandwich Panels

There are many methods to connect your Sing products. In the example (above) simple H channels were used to connect the panels quickly and securely.

#2 – Sing Panel

Unlike Sing Sandwich panels, the Sing Panel has an embedded solid wood frame around all exterior edges of the panel. Standard width of the solid wood edging is 1.5 inches but could be any size to meet your specifications.

How to Connect Sing Panels

Again, many options abound for connecting Sing Panels but you have the advantage of having a solid wood edge to which you could nail, screw or use many alternative connection methods available to the craftsmen, millworks and contractors who use them.

While toenailing or screwing may be the least expensive quick fix, thru-bolt joining is an effective option because of the solid wood edge, allowing you to set up and tear down without damaging the panel’s edges.

#3 – Sing Modular Wall Panel

Modular Wall Panel A

The Sing Modular Wall Panel A is the default model of the Sing Modular Wall Panel. The standard size is 4 ft. x 8 ft. x 1.5 inch but is available in any size per your specifications. These modular wall panels come pre-configured for connecting via biscuit-joining.

1. What is Torsion Box?

The revolution or evolution of wood working, metal fabrication, plastic and cement meets the invention of patented Sing Sandwich core (see the many uses of Sing Core). Sing Panel provides the wood worker with pre-built torsion box.

2. Why Torsion Box?

Because other methods of building a table top are basically inefficient. For instance, a table top built of a solid material will shift and move over time compromising its degree of flatness. Also solid materials that are less likely to move are extremely expensive, heavy and would only be considered for a permanent fixture.

The torsion box table top design gives as flat a surface area as possible while reducing the weight of the table top due to the hollow areas in the center of the boxes. Using a torsion box design, a craftsman can build the most flat surface using 1/10th the solid material.

This is how simple it is to for you to use our pre-built torsion box.

All you have to do is to coat the underside of your bottom skin with regular carpenter glue…

Place your wood edges atop the glued-side of the skin…

Then fill the void with pre-built torsion box pieces until full.

Place glued top skin onto your completed work…

Finally cold-press until dry (those two pc of panels to hold the gluing object are made of Sing panel).

This simple cold press (above) is made of two pieces of Sing panel (one on the top and one on the bottom) and clamped together with pipe clamps.
