Sing Core Attributes
Lightweight, Honeycomb, and Sandwich
The patented Sing Log system can use virtually any kind of wood at a reasonable cost, since we can use thinned and waste wood in our process. Pine and fir are the most economical, but the resistance to twisting, checking and shrinking imparted by the quarter sawn laminated system makes these logs equal to prime cedar in stability. We do offer cedar at a higher cost if that appearance is desired. The quality is in the cutting, and the vertical straight grain that results from the Sing quarter sawn method is generally considered to be the most handsome and desirable.
Quarter sawing produces vertical grain lumber with consistent grain orientation. They are dimensionally stable and show a minimum shrinkage and warpage. Sing logs are sold by linear foot. You can also choose to purchase our flooring, decking, roofing systems, interior walls. Our packages are all custom made depending your budget and the Sing Home products that you are interested in for you log home.
Log homes are no more at risk for insect damage than conventional homes. Our logs are delivered untreated and kiln dried. If they are kept dry, there is no moisture to support insects or rot. In areas of severe insect problems, borate or other preservatives could be field applied in the interior cores during erection. All logs must be treated with an appropriate sealer after erection; otherwise precautions typical of your area should be employed.
Once the roof is on; use brush or airless sprayer to apply a UV and water resistant coating system. We recommend Sikkens? Cetol? exterior and interior finishes as they have been thoroughly tested and proven to be superior. An initial 3 coats are required, with a recoat every 2 or 3 years on southern and western exposures; 3 to 4 years on northern and eastern exposures. If your own site has heavy weather from a different direction, adjustments should be made.
Patented sing log and sing eco log has the highest R value than any conventional log home. In the cold winter and hot summer R value will cut down your energy consumption which other log homes do not have.
We are able to work with any home design, either from other log manufacturers or from conventional plan books. It need not be a log home design. If you bring us a plan, we can estimate a log price. Our goal is to turn your dream into reality.
We can refer you to an outside designer who is experienced in Sing Home designing, or we can work with your own designer and provide him /her with the necessary information pertaining the Sing Log System.
Sing Home does not provide professional engineering services, but can refer you to a Professional Engineer or supply the engineering paper for your engineer’s review. The building department in your municipality may not require your house plan to be stamped by an engineer, but with one, the approval process is usually quicker and easier.
In a word, NO! The Sing Log system does not require more than basic carpentry skills, along with some pure labor. Unlike most manufacturers, whose heavy logs require cranes and other specialized equipment to erect, Sing Logs generally weigh under 70 pounds each and can be moved entirely by hand. When compared to conventional framing, The wall construction process is also greatly simplified, since the exterior Sing Log has replaced the siding, sheathing, framing, insulation and the interior wall board at the same time.
There are many log homes around the USA that exceed a century in age and are still occupied. Like any other home, proper maintenance will greatly enhance the usable life. An initial application of a UV resistant log coating protects the logs from weather and provides any desired color. The flat faces of Sing Logs means there are no surfaces to catch dust on the interior, or water and dirt on the exterior. Other than the periodic recoating recommended by the finish manufacturer, occasional washing with a garden sprayer should be adequate to keep the exterior of your log home looking fresh.
Logs contain millions of tiny air-trapping cells that are a natural insulator and the thermal mass inherent in log construction both slows the transfer of heat and stores it for slow release later in the day. Log homes are efficient to heat and cool, as well as minimizing the temperature swings typical of frame houses. Washington State recognizes log construction as exceeding the energy code requirement for walls. Comparative testing on identical houses has shown that log homes use less energy over a year than frame or masonry construction.
Local conditions and regulations will have the final say, but log homes can be built on any foundation: crawl space or basement; concrete, masonry, or wooden foundation; concrete slab; or posts and piers.
Any style of roof used with conventional houses can be employed with logs. It is more common in log homes to take advantage of high, cathedral style ceilings and open loft space as well as exposed timber framing. The Roof System Options page on this site lists a few common options offered through our Dry-in and Plus Packages. In addition, Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) has also been successfully used in conjunction with Sing Logs by many of our clients.
For most suppliers, interior log walls may be required for structural reasons or else can add considerable cost if chosen as an option. With Sing Logs, interior partitions are the owner’s choice. Please visit the Interior Wall Options page for common interior wall configurations.

How strong are your door core panels?
Our Sing Honeycomb Door Core Panels (4’ x 8’ x 1 3/8”) can support the weight of 4 people between 2 saw horses with no other support and with negligible bending and are significantly more water resistant than paper honeycomb door cores.
Our Sing Honeycomb Door Core Panels come with a 10 year limited structural warranty.
How light are your Sing Honeycomb Door Cores & Oversize Doors?
Our Sing Honeycomb Door Cores are at least one-third or more lighter in weight.
How do we assemble an Over-sized Door?
We will ship your door core in crates to ensure their safe arrival.
Our largest panel is 12’ x 10’, but you can combine these to make almost any size door you desire.
Once your door cores have arrived, take the panels to the room where they will be installed in and do the following:
1. Arrange your door panels on a level plane so that they can be joined precisely.
2. Join the panels in the horizontal position and applying glue in the grooved “biscuit” cut
3. Insert biscuit joint to one side of panel, apply glue to groove in second panel that will be attached to the first panel.
4. slide panel so that the other half of biscuit is inserted into the biscuit groove and allow all glued areas to dry completely.
5. Once all of the panels have been assembled together, and the glue has completely dried, you may then lift and begin installing your door with your hardware.

What types of material can I laminate to honeycomb?
Any substrate (skin) that is capable of carrying a load, can withstand daily use being opened/closed.
How do you ship?

What is your lead time?
Usually three to four weeks, but this has been know to extend out to five or more weeks on occasion. For our regular contract customers, we block out production time for them and for others we will “work with them” as our production schedule allows.
How does my company become a “Regular Contract Customer”
You can become one of our “Regular Contract Customers” by entering into a contract to order at least 50 cores per month with our company (this allows you to receive better discounts and reserved production and shipping times)
What size are your panels?
We can manufacture panels up to 5’ x 10’. However, the most commonly ordered size is 4’ x 8’* (*finished size is 47” x 95”) and are usually determined by the size of the skins available. Sizes are limited somewhat by shipping company restrictions as well.
We also offer oversize door cores, these would be done in 4’x8’ sizes and then you would attach using biscuit joints
How much pressure to I use to apply skins myself?
Enough for intimate contact with our honeycomb core with or without solid wood edging but too much pressure can cause damage to the core.
Do you have distributors?
No, at this time everything is sold directly by us from our manufacturing location in McCleary, Washington.
Do you keep any panels in stock?
All of our Sing Cores, Sing Core Panels, & Sing Honeycomb Panels are made to order for each of our customers.
How do I get price information for your doors?
Consumers: We ask that you contact your local door or wood working manufacturer to contact us regarding making your door with our Sing Honeycomb Door Panel.

Are your doors difficult to install?
If you are good with your hands and have prior experience then depending on the size of the door and what veneers were used to finish your door it should only take 1 or 2 people to install, but we generally recommend that you have a professional door installer do this part to ensure a good tight fit.
Do you offer jambs or pre-hung doors?
No we do not do jambs or Prehung products but we do have an industry link page that can assist you with just about anything you would need for your door.
Do you build overhead garage doors?
We do not manufacture finished ready to hang doors, but our door core panels can become overhead, standard lift garage doors and carriage doors, along with barn-style, sliding/pocket door cores and interior/exterior residential door cores, and oversize industrial door cores.
Where are you located and do you have distributors?
We are located in McCleary, Washington, but we are always looking for reputable companies that are interested in innovative products and would be like to know more about promoting/selling our products
What are typical shipping costs?
Shipping costs vary depending on several factors:

*One of the major factors in shipping of course is weight. Sing Door Cores beat the competition because our door cores are lighter than particle board or solid wood and are as strong so they are more economical to ship
Do the doors come finished?
Our door cores come with lock and hinge blocking and a paint grade birch skin, you need to finish it yourself or have your contractor or local door manufacturer get your door core to its finished state.

Today, the most common doors found in private residences contain a paper core. These doors are flimsy and are easily punctured, even when slightly impacted. Owners of these doors find themselves spending time and money on repairs, replacements, and installations that would not have been an issue had they purchased a door from Singcore. Singcore doors do not cost much more than paper-core doors, yet they have been tested to be at least 49 times stronger.
How secure are your doors? With our patented core, you can rest assured that our torsion box technology will stand up to harsh treatment and all weather conditions. Our doors have been thoroughly tested and have been proven to withstand the impact of a sledgehammer. There is no comparison between the stability, structure, and strength of Sing Core doors versus paper-core doors.
This is a Sing Overhead Garage Door Panel compared next to a typical steel overhead garage door panel. Same size and thickness but as you can see the steel panel buckles with only a few pounds put on it while the Sing Panel holds almost all of Inventor Peter Sings weight without any problem.
Doors do not have to be made out of steel to be rigid and strong. Sing Core doors are stronger and lighter, than steel and vinyl doors. Standard steel overhead garage doors are made of steel so thin that a golf ball can dent it. This is not the case with Sing Core doors. Your door doesn’t have to be steel to be strong. SINGCORE Metal Composite Panels are stronger and lighter than solid steel panels. SINGCORE Aluminum and Steel Honeycomb Panels are also stronger and lighter than overhead steel garage doors, which can be dented by something as small as a golf ball. Sing offers pricing competitive with steel panels of any type.
The torsion box core holds the Sing Metal Panel flat so that it will not warp and sag. A 16lb steel hammer will easily dent a steel or vinyl door, but not a Sing Metal Panel. Because Sing panels are efficient to produce, they are more affordable than solid steel panels.
