The Garage Door Solution

Sing Core Garage Doors

The most common problem for garage doors is the continuous exposure to the outdoor elements. Which subjects one side of the door to daily changes in temperature while the other side sees a constant interior temperature. This is where a solid wood garage door would fail and crack due to the wood expanding and contracting inside the door. This is a major flaw which requires frequent maintenance, such as repainting and resealing to prevent water damage.

Now with a Sing Core door, a garage door can have any skin from metal to old growth Douglas-fir.

Aluminum and metal skinned

Aluminum is a great option for sliding barn doors. The aluminum produces a lightweight and strong finished product. To seal metal and aluminum doors from the elements we have discovered the perfect solution, vinyl wrap.

Vinyl Wrap

Vinyl wrap will adhere to any door’s surface. The glue will seal out any moisture. The vinyl is fully customizable to any design of your liking and will provide full UV protection of your door. Learn how to build a true flat long lasting carriage door here.

Wood Skinned

The best choice for a wood garage door is AB plywood or marine plywood. There’s no need to worry about the plywood cracking with the inclusion of proper finishing when using Sing Core thanks to our patented and patent-pending torsion box “honeycomb” design. This is why they are used on our Sing Core homes.

Wood Stave

A superior addition to any door is to add wood stave to the face. Our most common wood stave products are clear cedar and douglas fir. With wood stave applied, the door looks like it’s made of solid wood.
Unlike a thin .020 wood veneer; wood stave can be sanded and repaired if damaged. Making wood stave a more durable solution to high traffic areas or commercial applications.
Does your customer need a rugged wood stave skin or a thin veneer? Ask one of our knowledgeable sales engineers about the pros and cons of different skin options and they would be happy to walk you through your options.

1/8″ wood stave is all that is necessary to make your door look like it is made completely out of solid wood. But the secret inside is that your door is exponentially stronger and more stable than a standard solid wood door. Your Sing Core door is also almost a third of the weight of a comparably sized solid wood door. Being lightweight expands the choices of hardware, reduces labor costs to install, and is safer in inclimate weather. This applies to all doors with Sing Core inside; pivot doors, sliding doors, pocket doors, carriage doors, bi fold doors, and other doors with unique hardware configurations. Panel Carry

What Are Sing Honeycomb Panels?

Sing Honeycomb is a sandwich panel composite material with built in structural grids. Our grids are made of vertical grain renewable veneer wood fiber, and foam. We construct our Singcore in a fashion similar to torsion box technology most commonly found in the airplane industry. This technology is what allows our panels remain strong, lightweight, and flat without denting, cracking, and warping. See a comparison here. Inventor Peter Sing uses this torsion box technology, along with wood fiber and foam to create patented Sing Honeycomb: the incredibly strong, true flat, lightweight, renewable composite material of the future. Check out our products section to see a few different applications.

Sinc Core panels are resistant to rot Rot Resistant
Even without coating, Sing Honeycomb sandwich panels outlast plywood, solid wood, MDF, and particle board. Plywood and engineered wood rot crack because of the weak glue layers. Sing Honeycomb panels last because underneath the skins lie Singcore, which keeps the panels flat through torsion box technology, and therefore doesn’t allow the panel to crack.

Sing Sandwich Panel

Sandwich Panel

torsion box, sandwich panel, honeycomb panel, lightweight panel

Standard sandwich panels utilize an insulating foam core sandwiched in between two thin sheets of hard material.  However, this design offers very little strength and durability. Sandwich panels made by Sing Core are stronger, lighter, and more eco-friendly than these conventional panels because we replace the standard foam core with our patented vertical grain, natural veneer torsion box grid also known as the Sing Core.  For the consumer, this translates into a higher quality product at a fraction of the cost.

Insulated doors made with traditional sandwich panels are highly susceptible to dents and structural damage because of their weak foam core.  Doors made with our Sing Core sandwich panel technology can withstand much higher impacts resulting in little or no damage due to our unique core properties.  The University of Washington has confirmed that our doors can withstand pressure of up to 660 psi, as compared to the average sandwich panel which can only withstand 60-100 psi.

How can Sing Core sandwich panels be used? Doors, shelving, table-tops, flooring, bookcases, furniture, outdoor decking material, truck/trailer beds even water tanks, to name a few. The possibilities are endless.

If you desire products that are lightweight, strong, durable, dimensionally stable, and eco-friendly, then you must try our Sing Core Sandwich Panels.  We like to demonstrate our confidence in the integrity of our products by offering our customers a 10 year structural guarantee.

Going Green

Environment & Economy Friendly

How is Sing Core “Green”, and why is it the most earth-friendly way to use both natural and man-made materials?

LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) provides a “cradle to grave” measurement of a product’s environmental impacts from raw material extraction and manufacturing through distribution, use, maintenance, and disposal.  An obvious example is a coffee or tea cup made of Styrofoam compared to a coffee mug made of the same material but enclosed in a solid container.  Solo cups are only used once then disposed of after use, unnecessarily filling our landfills.  Imagine that the same Solo cup material put into a permanent coffee mug, could last ten years without being replaced.  Sing Core protects the foam inside durable wood frameworks.  LCA studies show that using wood is less harmful to the environment than steel or concrete in terms of embodied energy, global warming potential, air emissions, water emissions, and solid waste production. Sing Honeycomb core structure is made of 100% natural vertical grain wood veneer.  This sets us apart from our counterparts who use only paper, particle board, aluminum, and plastic. Here at Sing Core, environmentally friendly construction is our mission.

Green-eco-friendly-sing-coreLow Energy Production

Sing Core’s patented manufacturing process is the most efficient and economical way to make sandwich panels with a veneer torsion box core.  The materials used in Sing Core sandwich panels use low energy to produce.  The adhesive used in Sing Core panels is produced in a much more efficient way than the minerals for nails are mined. The veneer is made of scrap material from Washington mills and the foam core is 20% recycled.

Renewable

Sing Core’s structure is made of natural vertical grain wood veneer.  This sets us apart from our counterparts who make cores with particle board.  It requires energy to break wood down into pulp and reconstruct it into particle board.  Veneer uses the natural strength of the wood fiber.  Life Cycle Assessment studies show that using wood veneer is less harmful to the environment than steel or concrete in terms of embodied energy, global warming potential, air emissions, water emissions, and solid waste production.  Here at Sing Core, environmentally friendly construction is our mission.

Non-Toxic

The structural glue and finishing stains that we use are all non-toxic and formaldehyde free.

Recycled

Our foam core has a recycled content of 20% and is 100% recyclable.

Energy Saving

Insulated, draft-free sandwich panels save your heating costs Sing has a long term stable R-Value. Sing Core panels assemble and install quickly, saving you man power and time.

Long Lasting

Sing torsion box sandwich panels are warrantied for ten years*, but may last much longer. This means Sing Core products will not need replacement or disposal for many years, cutting down on the resources used to manufacture panels. The foam used in Sing Core panels comes with a 20-year thermal performance warranty, dimensional stability, compressive strength, and water resistant properties. See instructions for repair and recycling.
